MY MANY HATS: I bet you didn't know that I'm a photographer. (The problem with getting that job, of course, is that I don't actually get to be in the pictures.)

When I mentioned to my mother this morning that I was going to a counterprotest today, she said "be careful!" I suppose that comes partially from just being a Mom, but I think it's mostly a generational thing. Protests in the 60s and 70s sometimes turned violent and scary. But it wouldn't even occur to me to be frightened of a protest, because these days, they're more dull and pathetic than anything else. The vanguard of the proletariat is much less intimidating with tenure and arthritis, and the younger protestors are a rather docile flock.
