LP: Losers, Pitiable

Just after taking a few shots at Libertarian Party candidates in the previous post, I read David Weigel's fine review of Jeremy Rifkin's The European Dream (key quote: "He's using 'Enlightment' in the perjorative sense"), and noticed an ad for the Badnarik campaign's "Operation Wisconsin Blue".

That's right, the Libertarian candidate is now openly campaigning as a pro-Kerry spoiler. Pathetic.

When will the libertarians learn the futility of self immolation to prove a point? If they had ANY sense they would be Republican allies; they may not like `em but the alternative is far worse from their perspective.

What the Libertarians should do is nominate whoever the Republicans nominate as THEIR candidate also (then they can claim a win) while concentrating on a more grass roots party-building approach. Why waste money running a guy for President who can`t even garner 1% of the vote? Go after State Legislatures, Governorships etc. then when the Party gets big enough you can think about the major league.
