Tidying up the Cabinet

Alberto Gonzales is replacing John Ashcroft as Attorney General, which should calm the nerves of conservatives who've long been concerned about the prospect of Gonzales on the Supreme Court.

Now to replace Don Evans as Commerce Secretary, might I suggest... no one? The Commerce Department ought to be dismantled; check out this 1995 congressional testimony on the subject by Edward L. Hudgins, then the Cato Institute's Director of Regulatory Studies (he's now with the Objectivist Center).

Considering the fact that the Chinese stole missile technology from the United States under the watchful regulatory eye of the Commerce Department (Under Clinton`s man Ron Brown)I consider your proposal an excellent one.
