The Chicago Fire

There was a five-alarm fire last night at the LaSalle Bank building in Chicago; two firemen were seriously injured. It could have been much worse; the building had no sprinkler system, which, as Eli Lehrer explained early last year, buildings really should have.

I am so familiar with that building. I used to bank there right when I started working downtown. This was before you were born and I think even before I met your mom. It is hard to believe that in this modern tech age, we allow stuff like that to happen ie no sprinklers.

Best,

Da
